Call for Papers: Promovendicongres Wetenschapsgeschiedenis
On Thursday January 22nd and Friday January 23rd 2015, the fifth edition of the History of Science PhD-conference (Promovendicongres Wetenschapsgeschiedenis) will take place in the Rolduc Abbey of Kerkrade (Limburg). The aim of the conference is to bring together all PhD-candidates working in Belgium and the Netherlands in the field of the history of the sciences (including histories of technology, medicine, the humanities and other relevant fields) and discuss each other’s work(-in-progress) in an informal and congenial setting.
Each PhD-candidate will therefore be asked to give a 15-minute introduction to his or her work, whereafter there will be time for questions and discussion. All sorts of contributions are welcome, whether it is a presentation of an already finished chapter, a broad outline of an initial research plan or methodology, or one specific case-study you think deserves more attention from those working in your field. The spoken language will be English. Presentation-devices will be present.
You may register until 31 October 2015 by emailing Noortje Jacobs (email@example.com). Please include your postal address, your topic of research and a short abstract (± 250 words) of the work you would like to present at Rolduc.
Participation in the conference costs €80.25, which will have to be paid upon arrival at the Rolduc Abbey. Costs will cover the overnight stay in the Abbey, lunch (x2), a 3-course dinner on Thursday, drinks at the bar, an exclusive tour of Rolduc and of course: a round of Limburger Vlaai! This is made possible thanks to the Huizinga Institute, Research Institute and Graduate School for Cultural History (Amsterdam) and the Descartes Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Sciences and the Humanities (Utrecht).
For any further questions, feel free to contact conference-organizers, Floor Haalboom (A.F.Haalboom@umcutrecht.nl) and Noortje Jacobs (firstname.lastname@example.org).
