3 apr 2017Van 15:30 - 17:00uur
The history of slavery has increasingly come into the spotlight in the Netherlands. Although the debate over its legacy can be traced back to the seventeenth century, the most recent wave of exhibitions, documentaries and public debates started around 2012. This lecture will introduce the audience to the basic facts of Dutch involvement in slavery and the slave trade and dispel some of the myths that circulate in the public debate.
