GLOBALISE – Launch of simple transcriptions viewer & workshops

GLOBALISE is pleased to announce that the first results of the project are now available to all. You are warmly invited to find out more at an event hosted by the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam, on Wednesday 4 October 2023 from 10am to 5pm CEST. Part of the meeting will be open for remote participation via Zoom.

The program includes the launch of a simple viewer for searching and browsing the transcriptions of almost 5 million scans of pages from the VOC archives, workshop sessions where you can learn how to make best use of our data and transcriptions, and short presentations of recent research with the VOC archives. We will also give you updates on other ongoing work in the project, including new datasets on weights and measures, polities, and people, as well as the automatic recognition of entities and events in the texts.
