Heloise VIIth Workshop

2 nov - 3 nov 2017
Van 9:30 - 17:00uur
Universiteit Utrecht

Nowadays much digitized material – in all kinds of formats – is available on the history of universities. In several workshops, Heloise – the European Network on Digital Academic History – has been discussing how this material can be made available to the public and scientific research alike and how these data could be interconnected.

Now Heloise has the intention to go a step further and therefore organizes a workshop at Utrecht University in the Netherlands on the uses of these databases in historical research. What questions could be answered by using the databases? What do these databases contribute to the history of universities and the history of science? To which meaningful questions can historians give an answer by using this material?

The papers presented in this workshop will offer examples of research into the history of universities and the history of science that make use of the kind of digitized data collections that we work with in the Heloise project.

The workshop is organised in cooperation with the Descartes Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Sciences and Humanities at Utrecht University and the Utrecht Digital Humanities Group.
