Symposium – New Perspectives on Early Modern Media and the Book Business in Europe

22 mar - 28 mar 2024
Van 13:00 - 23:09uur
University Library (Tammeszaal), Broerstraat 4, Groningen

In March 2019 Andrew Pettegree and Arthur der Weduwen’s new book The Bookshop of the World: Making and Trading Books in the Dutch Golden Age will be published. At the same time, the authors will launch the Dutch translation in the Netherlands. In Groningen, this will happen in the University Library. Its Special Collections Department stores much of the discussed material. The publication of the translation and of two other books in the same field will be celebrated in an afternoon symposium, in which the authors and the Special Collections curator will reflect on the new publications (see programme below). They will outline the making of their books, discuss the present state of the art in their field of research and possibilities for new research in early modern media and book history in Europe.
