FUNCTIE

The Department of History and Art History seeks to appoint a temporary Lecturer in Political History, with a focus on modern and/or contemporary Europe. Candidates are expected to teach on a wide range of subjects, including those beyond their own expertise.

PROFIEL

The successful candidate has:

  • experience teaching undergraduate students, and a commitment to thesis supervision and supervision of internships;
  • a PhD degree or far advanced PhD trajectory in History or a related discipline, with a specialisation in Political History;
  • the ability to contribute fully to the academic life of the department.

Utrecht University has a teaching qualification system for University Lecturers. Candidates are required to obtain the Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) within two years if they are not already in possession of one.

Candidates are expected to be proficient in both Dutch and English; non-Dutch candidates will need to master the Dutch language on an academic level within two years.

AANBOD

We offer a temporary position (0.7 FTE) for four years. The gross salary – depending on previous qualifications and experience  – ranges between €2,709 and €4,978 (scale 10/11 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year. In addition, Utrecht University offers excellent secondary conditions, including an attractive retirement scheme, (partly paid) parental leave and flexible employment conditions (multiple choice model).
