The Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Medieval European History. The anticipated start date is 1 July 2019.

The successful candidate will maintain an active and externally-funded research program; teach graduate and undergraduate courses in their area of specialization in addition to first-year survey courses in History; contribute to the graduate program; participate in the affairs of the department, faculty, and university; maintain a professional profile in the discipline of History; and engage with the wider community.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Medieval European History in hand by 1 July 2019 and must display evidence of excellence in both research and teaching. Candidates must demonstrate research potential through excellent performance at the graduate level, high-impact peer-reviewed publications, and a record of securing external research grants. Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching excellence should be demonstrated via a reflective statement of teaching philosophy and a dossier containing evidence of effective teaching strategies, strong teaching evaluations, and a desire to excel in undergraduate and graduate teaching, student supervision, and mentorship. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to service within a university setting, the profession, and the wider community. Preference may be given to candidates whose research and teaching interests complement those already in the department.
